Department Board

The Department Board is the highest decision-making organ of the department, and makes important strategic decisions about the department’s education. The Department Board convenes about once a month.

As a student representative, your role is to speak on behalf of all students at the department, promote their interests and make sure that students’ rights are being followed with each decision.

Course Syllabus Committee

  • 1 Ordinary
  • 1 Alternate

The Course Syllabus Committee reviews and comments on all syllabi before they are sent to the Department Board for decision.

As a student representative, your role is to scrutinize the syllabi from a quality standpoint, and to ensure that students’ rights and interests are being taken into account.

Work Environment, Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Council

The Department of Sociology works actively with issues relating to the work environment, gender equality and equal treatment, in order to create a good work environment for students as well as for teachers and other staff. A joint council is responsible for the preparatory work with both work environment issues, gender equality and equal treatment.

As a student representative, your role is to speak on behalf of the students at your department, contribute with a student perspective in the discussions that take place and ensure that all students have access to a good working environment and equitable conditions in their education.

Steering group for the Bachelor programme in Human Resources

The Steering group for the Bachelor programme in Human Resources deals with strategic issues related to the program.

As a student representative, your role is to speak on behalf of all students of your programme, promote their interests and make sure that students’ rights are being followed with each decision.

Programme representative for the Bachelor programme in Sociology

  • 1 Ordinary
  • 1 Alternate

The Programme representative for the Bachelor programme in Sociology speaks on behalf of the students of the programme when in touch with teachers and the programme management. They participate in teachers’ meetings and a joint programme meeting together with the Bachelor programme in Social anthropology, which happens once per term.

As a student representative, your role is to collect the opinions of the students of the programme, represent and promote their interests, and to keep track of and make sure that teachers and management are following students’ rights.

Programme representative for the Bachelor programme in Social Anthropology

  • 1 Alternate

The Programme representative for the Bachelor programme in Sociology speaks on behalf of the students of the programme when in touch with teachers and the programme management. They participate in a joint programme meeting together with the Bachelor programme in Sociology, which happens once per term.

As a student representative, your role is to collect the opinions of the students of the programme, represent and promote their interests, and to keep track of and make sure that teachers and management are following students’ rights.
